Marcus Dowling

Washington, DC native Marcus K. Dowling is a locally, nationally and internationally respected journalist, music industry veteran and brand management specialist with a finger on the pulse of the past, present and future.

A copious and curious consumer of all things culture, Dowling is also a progressive minded entrepreneur having assisted in the launch of CUFF – an EDM-specific management/marketing/branding company, WLVS Radio – a popular DC-based online urban radio station, and indie/underground EDM PR firm Vamos Promo in the past three years.

As a music and arts journalist, he currently writes for Complex-network affiliated EDM blog DoAndroidsDance.com, as well as HipHopDX. Furthermore, he writes Op/Eds for Twitter-owned long-form site Medium.com. Oftentimes called upon for his expert knowledge of music industry, he has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and UK’s Mixmag Magazine, and hosted events for the Red Bull Music Academy and Mastercard.

Once known as the Editor-in-Chief of top rap site Brooklyn Bodega and a contributor for the Washington City Paper and Myspace (as well as a plethora of other positions), Dowling’s work is also now published for On Tap Magazine and DC-based megablog Brightest Young Things.
